RESOLUTION TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING TO ABANDON AN ALLEY COMMENCING WEST OF HAVEN STREET RUNNING TO FLINT STREET AS REQUESTED BY ROGER AND NANCY ABERNATHY, JON KELLER AND SUSAN FORESTER

WHEREAS, the property owners have filed a petition with the City Clerk of Jonesboro, Arkansas, requesting that the existing alley lying between Block's 46 and 47, commencing west from Haven Street to Flint Street with Lot 1, Block 47, and Lot 6, Block 47, lying on the south side of said alley and Lot 3, Block 46, and Lot 4, Block 46 lying on the north side of said alley be and abandoned; AND
WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, Arkansas Statute annotated 14-301-302 requires two week public notice before the above described Utility and Drainage Easement can be vacated and abandoned.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that the City Clerk is directed to publish a notice once a week for two consecutive weeks advising the public of the request by the property owners to vacate and abandon the unimproved alley and this matter will be heard before the City Council on June 2, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at City Council Chambers located at 900 W. Monroe, Jonesboro, Arkansas.
