AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 2.32, CITY ATTORNEY - SECTION 2.23.02 - DUTIES, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1: That Chapter 2. 23 - City Attorney, Section 2.32.02 - Duties, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas hereby substituted and amended to read as follows: 

 

(A)  Represent the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas in all matters pertaining to the Municipal Court including the appeals of municipal ordinances to higher courts that are not in conflict with state law.

 

(B)  Confer with the Mayor and City Council on matters affecting the city when requested.  Requests shall be in writing if time permits.                     

 

(C)  Draft or review all ordinances and resolutions, contracts, lease agreements, etc. required by the City of Jonesboro.

 

(D)  City Attorney shall attend all regular and called City Council meetings.

 

SECTION 2: If for any reason, any portion of this ordinance is held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no way affect the remaining portions thereof which are valid, but such valid portions shall remain in full force and effect.

 

SECTION 3: It is found and declared by the City Council that an emergency exists and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 31st day of December, 1990.
