The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met on July 2, 1970 at 7:30 P.M. in a special session at the Chamber of Commerce.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Scott, Kenward, Lane, Spurlock, Melton, and Falls.
OTHERS PRESENT: Daniel Moore, M.S. Malik and W.K. Kassees (from Harland Bartholomew and Associates), Claude Parton, Bob Faulkner, Joe Foster and Sam Smith (from the Arkansas Highway Department), Bill Clark (County Judge), and Mayor Neil Stallings.
Mr. Bob Faulkner from the Arkansas Highway Department discussed in detail the following:
What the TOPICS program is
What Jonesboro must do to obtain a TOPICS system
Where the finances will come from
And how long it will take to start a TOPICS system
Afterwards there was a lengthy discussion and many questions were asked.
In the second part of the special meeting Mr. Malik and Mr. Moore discussed progress reports and maps of the water study, utility study and parking study. Attention was also called to the planners to re-evaluate the storm sewer facilities.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:45 P.M.
