RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS TO APPLY FOR AN URBAN PLANNING ASSISTANCE GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro recognizes that steps must be taken to insure its proper and orderly growth and to prevent future development of undesirable physical conditions, and
WHEREAS, city planning is recognized to be of primary importance in the future growth and development of the City of Jonesboro, and
WHEREAS, the financial resources of the City of Jonesboro are not adequate to finance in whole a necessary and desirable city planning program,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the City of Jonesboro desires that the University of Arkansas make application for an urban planning assistance grant on its behalf in the amount of $3,600.00 to assist the City of Jonesboro in the initial development of its planning program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Jonesboro will, when the application for an urban planning grant is approved by the federal agency, make available to the University of Arkansas the sum of $3,800.00 to be used in city planning for an 18-month period.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted on this 5th day of March, 1956.
