AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY OF THE CITY TREASURER OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:

SECTION 1. That hereafter the salary of the City Treasurer of Jonesboro, Arkansas, shall be sixty dollars ($60.00) per month, beginning with the first day of the term of office of the City Treasurer elected at the general municipal election to be held in November, 1951, which term shall begin the first day of January, 1952.

SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. It being found that the cost of living has increased and the previous salary of $50.00 a month for the City Treasurer is inadequate and an election for said office is to be held in November of this year and able persons should be encouraged to run for said office, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, the same shall be in full force from and after its passage.
