BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

SECTION 1: From and after the effective date herein Section 10 of Ordinance No.757 as amended by Section 3 of Ordinance No.836 shall be amended to read as follows, to-wit:

(A)  All persons, firms, co-partnership, associations or corporations failing, neglecting, or refusing to pay their license or occupation tax between the first day of January and the 16th day of February each year hereafter or within 31 days after the license or occupation tax becomes due shall be subject to a penalty of ten percent (10%) of the amount of said license fee or occupation tax; as well as subject to a fine as having violated the Ordinance.

SECTION 2: It being found by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that there now exists some confusion and conflict between the Ordinances of said city in regard to the deadline for the payment of license and occupation tax, and that there is need of an ordinance to make uniform the dates of the payment of said license and tax; now therefore, an emergency is declared to exist and this Ordinance be necessary for the preservation of public peace, health, and safety, it shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.

PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of March, 1956.
