A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A LAKE SPILLWAY BRIDGE AT CRAIGHEAD FOREST PARK

WHEREAS, there is a public safety issue resulting from the absence of a bridge on the portion of the walking trail at Craighead Forest Park which crosses the lake spillway, and there also exists the imminent probability of significant increases in steel prices, and

WHEREAS, bids for the purchase and installation of a bridge have been taken, with the low bid of $38,840 being received from NEAT Press Works, such bid price expiring on June 30, 2004, and

WHEREAS, the 2004 annual budget provides for a Mayor’s Emergency/Discretionary appropriation in the Capital Improvement Fund wherein the Mayor may, upon determination of an emergency, authorize the expenditure of funds for capital improvement purposes

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized, based upon the determination of an emergency by the Mayor, to accept the bid before the expiration date from NEAT Press Works for the purchase and installation of a lake spillway bridge at Craighead Forest Park, and to charge the expenditure to the Mayor’s Emergency/Discretionary appropriation.
