AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING PART OF CERTAIN STREETS AS A ONE-WAY STREET; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: From and after passage and adoption of this Ordinance, parts of certain streets as set forth herein shall be designated as a one-way street, to-wit:

 

“One way” East to West on Belt Street from Drake to Bridge between 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Section 2: The chief of Police or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described streets at proper places, appropriate signs reading “one-way street” and the appropriate time schedule thereon, where applicable, and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to tear down or mutilate such signs.

 

Section 3: Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than $25.00.

 

Section 4: All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

 

Section 5: It is found and declared by the City Council that the increasing amount of traffic congestion and lack of traffic control devices have caused danger to life and property and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and adoption.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 4th day of December, 1972.
