AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO.890 SAME BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6 (SUBTITLE: STREET OPENINGS) OF ORDINANCE NO.849, SAME BEING AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF PLUMBING INSPECTOR, GOVERNING THE CONSTRUCTION, INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION OF PLUMBING; AND OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

SECTION 1: That from and after the passage and adoption of this ordinance, Ordinance No.890 amending Section 6 (titled street openings) of Ordinance No.849, passed and adopted April 6, 1953, shall be amended to read as follows:

SECTION 6 STREET OPENINGS:

(A) All openings made in the public streets or alleys to install plumbing must be made as carefully as possible and all materials excavated from the trenches shall be removed or placed where the least inconvenience to the public will be caused.

(B) Before any opening is made in any of the streets or alleys of the City of Jonesboro, the person desiring to make the opening shall secure a written permit to do so from the City Collector of said city, said permit to state and described definitely the part or portion of the street to be disturbed, and shall deposit with the City Collector a sum not less than $15.00 where the opening is in a gravel street, and not less than $25.00 upon all other streets, and in addition thereto shall deposit with said City Collector any additional sum of money as may be determined necessary by the plumbing inspector to cover the necessary expenses incurred by the City of Jonesboro in repairing said street or pavement and restoring it to its former condition. After the plumbing work has been completed and the hole refilled, all excess rubbish and material shall be removed leaving he street or sidewalk clean.

(C) All openings shall be marked with sufficient barriers. Flares or red lamps shall be maintained around the opening at night and all other precaution shall be taken by the plumber or excavator to protect the p...
