AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 13-10 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES PROVIDING FOR OCCUPATION OR PRIVILEGE TAX

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: That, certain sub-sections, of 13-10 of the Code of Ordinances, of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas are hereby amended to read as follows:

 

                       (2) Accountants, Certified Public, Per Person                     $50.00

                       (7) Architects (who are licensed), Per Person                      $50.00

                     (10) Attorney at Law, Per Person                                                               $50.00

                     (61) Dentists                                                                                                                              $50.00

          (114) Optometrist                                                                                                         $50.00

          (120) Physicians, Each Physician, Surgeon, Osteopath,

                             Chiropractor, who practice their profession                     $50.00

 

Section 2: This Ordinance shall be retroactive to January 1, 1965, and shall apply to the 1965 taxes.                     

 

Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that certain inequities exist in the occupation tax categories covered in the foregoing Ordinance which should be corrected prior to the 1965 collections and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 1st day of February, 1965.
