A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN ENGAGEMENT LETTER FOR GENERAL LEGAL COUNSEL WITH BARRET & DEACON, P.A. ON MATTERS RELATED TO CLOSING AND MANAGING THE CLASS 4 LANDFILL

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro is exploring additional closure methods for the Class 4 Landfill at 1624 Strawfloor Drive; and

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has requested an extension of time to perform landfill activities from the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality; and

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro needs specialized legal representation in the area of Environmental Law to proceed with issues related to the closure of its Class 4 Landfill.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

1.      The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute such documents as are necessary to effectuate this agreement.

2.      The funding for the execution of this agreement shall come from the account    01-131-0217-00, Professional Services-Mayor's Office.
