RESOLUTION APPROVING GRANT OFFER FROM THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA) FOR AIRPORT IMPROVEMENTS

WHEREAS, Pursuant to directions of the City Council and to laws, Ordinances, and Resolutions, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro has heretofore designated the Jonesboro Airport Commission to do all things related to management of the Jonesboro Airport and construction of improvements thereon, including extension and rebuilding of runways, and the City has provided for the financing thereof;
AND WHEREAS, Said Airport Commission, in accord with the powers heretofore established in it by action of the City Council, has caused engineering designs and specifications to be prepared, received bids for construction and formally requested from the Federal Aviation Administration a Grant of $460,000 being (50%) fifty percent of the total cost of Jonesboro Airport improvements, consisting of runways, taxiways, lighting, drainage, and other improvements;
AND WHEREAS, The Federal Aviation Administration has on May 28, 1968 forwarded to the City of Jonesboro and its Airport Commission a formal offer of $460,000.00 for use in constructing said improvements;
NOW THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas, approve and confirm the action taken by the Airport Commission relating to said Airport improvements and declare that the same is within the power and jurisdiction of said Commission, according to ordinances and resolutions heretofore adopted by the City Council;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas, approves, confirms, and ratifies the said Grant offer in the exact text and form made to Jonesboro by the Federal Aviation Administration, a copy of which is attached to and made a part of this resolution, and authorizes and directs the Mayor, and the City Clerk to execute said Grant offer on behalf of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and The Chairman and Secretary on behalf of its Airport ...
