The Jonesboro City Council met at 4:00 p.m. Present were the Mayor, City Clerk, and the following Council members: Wise, Ingram, Province, Mullenix, Bowers, Vance, Harpole and Hannah. This special meeting was called for the purpose of adopting an ordinance approving action to place the question of an increase for mosquito control (from $1.00 to $2.00) on the ballot for the November election.

 

Councilman Mullenix offered the following ordinance for the first reading:

 

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 2343, CHAPTER 5.12 OF THE JONESBORO CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO INCREASE THE TAX LEVY FOR MOSQUITO CONTROL TO TWO DOLLARS MONTHLY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

 

Councilman Hannah moved, seconded by Councilman Bowers, to suspend the rules and place the ordinance on second reading. A roll call vote was taken resulting in all council members voting aye. Those members voting aye are as follows: Wise, Ingram, Province, Mullenix, Bowers, Vance, Harpole and Hannah. Councilman Bowers moved, seconded by Councilman Harpole, to further suspend the rules and place on third and final reading. A roll call vote was taken resulting in all council members voting aye. Those members voting aye are as follows: Wise, Ingram, Province, Mullenix, Bowers, Vance, Harpole and Hannah. Councilman Mullenix moved, seconded by Councilman Harpole, for the adoption of the ordinance. A roll call vote was taken resulting in all council members voting aye. Those members voting aye are as follows: Wise, Ingram, Province, Mullenix, Bowers, Vance, Harpole and Hannah.

 

The ordinance was given the number 2577.

 

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
