RESOLUTION TO LEVY A 1 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR THE POLICEMAN’S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND

WHEREAS, the duly qualified, constituted and acting Board of Trustees of the Policeman’s Pension and Relief Fund of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, have enacted and caused to be certified to the City of Jonesboro City Clerk a Resolution finding that the sum $____ is necessary to discharge the functions of said Board during the year 1979.
WHEREAS, the City Council doth hereby approve said aforementioned Resolution and certification; and
WHEREAS, the City Council doth hereby find that the total assessed valuation of property, both real and personal, within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is the sum of $_____; and
WHEREAS, the City Council doth find in order to raise said sum of $_____ it is necessary to levy a tax of one mill per dollar assessed valuation and that the amount be raised by said tax will not fully cover the certified needs of said Board of Trustees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
1. That there be and is hereby levied on all real and personal property within the City of Jonesboro a tax of one mill on each dollar of assessed valuation of all real and personal property lying and situated within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, for the years 1978 to be collected in the year 1979 and that the funds realized there from be devoted to the purposes set forth in the Policeman’s Pension and Relief Acts and Ordinances.
2. The County Clerk of Craighead County, Arkansas, be and he is hereby directed to extend said tax as herein described upon the tax books and that the same be collected in the same manner as other property taxes are collected.
3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to spread this Resolution upon the minute book of the City and to certify of the same to the County Clerk of Craighead County, Arkansas.
