AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY OF THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-65:2703 ON FEBRUARY 1, 1965; ORD-67:2669 ON JANUARY 16, 1967; ORD-69:2626 ON JANUARY 20, 1969; ORD-70:2505 ON FEBRUARY 2, 1970; ORD-71:2505 ON JANUARY 18, 1971; ORD-74:2407 ON FEBRUARY 4, 1974)

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
 
Section 1: That from and after the date of January 1, 1961, the salary of the City Clerk of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, shall be and is hereby fixed at the sum of $1200.00 per year, payable in monthly installments of $100.00 per month.
 
Section 2: That from and after the date of January 1, 1961, the salary of the Ex-official Municipal Court Clerk of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is herby fixed at the sum of $3600.00 per year, payable in monthly installments; one-half of salary to be paid by the County of Craighead and one-half of salary by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
 
Section 3: That, all laws and parts of laws in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 4: It being found and determined by the City Council of Jonesboro that the cost of living has risen greatly since the last date the City Clerk's salary was adjusted ten years ago; that the burden of work and duties places on the City Clerk has tripled or more; Now, therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and it being in the best interest of the general public health, welfare and safety, their Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, adoption and publication.
 
PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of December, 1960.
