AN ORDINANCE REMOVING PARKING METER ON WEST WASHINGTON AVENUE AND UNION AVENUE AND PROVIDING FOR LOADING ZONE AREA

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: From and after passage of this ordinance the parking meter on West Washington Avenue in front of the Drive-in Bank of the First National Bank and the parking meter on Union Avenue in Front of the First National Bank shall be removed and a loading Zone established in said parking spaces.

 

Section 2: The Chief of Police or some person designated by him is hereby directed to remove the parking meters as designated in this ordinance and directed to place and locate appropriate signs reading “Loading Zone” at appropriate places along the aforesaid streets, and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tear down, remove or mutilate such signs.

 

Section 3: Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and fined in any sum not to exceed $15.00, with each day a violation continues to be a separate offense.

 

Section 4: It is found and declared by the City Council that due increased traffic in the vicinity of the First National Bank and the needs of the bank for loading zones, the parking of vehicles and parking meters on these spaces create a traffic hazard and resulting traffic congestion and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace and safety, and emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
