BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

SECTION 1:  From and after passage and adoption of this Ordinance, no person, firm or corporation shall park, stop or leave standing any vehicle of any kind whatsoever on the South side of Huntington Avenue, between Main Street and Union Street.

SECTION 2:  The Chief of Police or some person designated by him is hereby directed to remove the parking meters located on the South side of Huntington Avenue between main and Union Streets and to place appropriate signs reading “NO PARKING” at appropriate places along the said portion of Huntington Avenue.  It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tear down, remove or mutilate such signs.

SECTION 4:  It is found and declared by the City Council that due to the greatly increased traffic in the vicinity and over the above named portion of a street, the parking of vehicles on said South side creates a traffic hazard and resulting injury to persons or property and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
