AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF A USED LOWBOY TRAILER FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO STREET DEPARTMENT AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1: That the Street Department needs to purchase a lowboy trailer, specifically a used 30 ton Totem-all lowboy trailer, serial number P53120, for immediate use.

 

SECTION 2: That such trailer may be purchased from John D. Long of Harrisburg, Arkansas for the sum of $6,000.00.

 

SECTION 3: That the City Council, in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 (2) (B) hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described trailer for the price set forth in Section 2 above. Said amount shall be paid from the Fixed Asset line item in the Street Department.

 

SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire a lowboy trailer for the Street Department, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall take effect from and after its approval.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of October, 1990.
