CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - FEBRUARY 19, 1990

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. Present were Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and Aldermen Hannah, Park, Stricklin, Evans, Shelton, Province, Mays, Strauser, Hinson and Nix. Aldermen Bridger and Sanderson were absent.

The minutes of February 5, 1990, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Nix, seconded by Mr. Shelton. All voted aye.

Mr. Stricklin moved, seconded by Mr. Evans to reappoint to the CWL Board of Directors Pete Shelton, Ward 2; George Love, Ward 1; and to approve the Jonesboro School Board position of Ron Bennett. All voted aye.

The following bid was up for review:

90:06 - Mechanical equipment - FAA Building
Purchasing Agent, Steve Kent, stated that the money would be used for the tower, chemical treatment for water pumps, and preventative maintenance. The bid is for a one year time period with a 3 year option. Mr. Shelton moved, seconded by Mr. Stricklin to accept the low bid meeting specifications from RGB Mechanical for $495.00. All voted aye.

Mr. Shelton offered a resolution setting the dates of Clean Sweep from March 24-31, 1990. Mr. Shelton moved, seconded by Mr. Province to approve the resolution. All voted aye. The resolution was given the number 1990:11.

Mr. Hinson moved, seconded by Dr. Strauser to approve the resolution offered by Mr. Hinson as requested by the Police Department Traffic Safety Officer for speed limits as follows:
a) 35 mph on Lawson Rd. between Hwy 49 S. and S. Culberhouse
b) 40 mph on Lawson Rd. from S. Culberhouse Rd. to city limits east
c) 35 mph on Cottage Home Rd. from Hwy 18 S. to U. S. 63
d) 35 mph on Moore Rd. from Hwy 18 S. to city limits
e) 35 mph on Heath Rd. from Hwy 18 S. to city limits
f) 35 mph on C. W. Post Rd. in its entirety to city limits east.
All voted aye. The resolution was given the number 1990:12.
