RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT (AHTD) FOR THE FY 2016 TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVE PROGRAM (TAP) - THORN STREET SIDEWALK

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro was awarded the FY 2016 Transportation Alternative Program Grant in the amount of $57,500 of which $46,000 are federal-aid funds (80%); and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro will match the federal-aid funds with $11,500 in local funds of said sidewalk; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro will accept all accounting, reporting, and project responsibilities for said grant; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro will use said funds for the construction of the Thorn Street Sidewalk that would provide pedestrian accessibility for students walking to nearby schools within the Nettleton School District.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Jonesboro will enter into agreement with the Arkansas State Highways and Transportation Department to accept the 2016 TAP - Thorn Street Sidewalks Grant in the amount of $57,500; and
SECTION 2: The Mayor, City Clerk, and the City Attorney are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this contractual agreement.
