Minutes for the City Council meeting on April 3, 1961

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark. met in regular session at City Hall, Monday night, April 3, 1961, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Sammons, Griffin, Field, Smith, Brewer, Snow, Perry, Kenward, Cook, Brickell, Copeland and Ebbert.
The following Ordinance was placed on the second reading:
AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE #954 PROVIDING FOR THE CHANGE AND ADDITION OF ZONING AND REZONING DISTRICT BOUNDARIES.
Mr. Cook made the motion, seconded by Mr. Smith that the Chairman of the Street Committee calls a meeting with the Mayor and study streets and present recommendations at the next meeting; asphalt to meet specifications as now set up by Ordinance. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Ebbert gave a report from the Insurance Committee and recommend that the Insurance on the Community Center be increased and the glass breakage coverage on the City Hall be eliminated. Mr. Field made the motion, seconded by Mr. Smith that Council adopt the Committee’s recommendation. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
Mr. Brickell made the motion, seconded by Mr. Brewer that the bills as okayed by the Finance Committee be paid. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
After discussion the need for a Code of Ordinances for the City, Mr. Snow made the motion, seconded by Mr. Copeland that the City enter into a contract to have a codification of all the City’s Ordinances made by the Municipal Code Corporation of Tallahassee, Florida. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.
There being no further business, Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
