CITY COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY AUGUST 6, 1973
The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in regular session in City Hall, Monday night, August 6, 1973, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named councilmen: Pierce, Park, Dr. Bowers, Hannah, Stricklin, Minx, Smith, Bowers, Goforth, Johnson and Ward. Absent: Bridger.
Mr. Stricklin moved with Mr. Ward seconding the motion that the City cooperate and help the schools in the traffic problem that the High School will have when the term begins. The Mayor is to contact the Hwy Dept for traffic control in the area and the city will furnish the signs. All present voted aye and the motion carried.
Mr. Stricklin offered the following Ordinance for its 1st reading:
AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE 4-WAY STOP SIGNS AT CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS
Mr. Ward moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the rule by suspended and the Ordinance be placed on the 2nd reading. All voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Ward moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the rules be further suspended and the Ordinance be placed on the 3rd and final reading. All voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Ward moved with Mr. Park seconding the motion that the Ordinance be adopted. All voted aye and the motion carried. Motion by Park, seconded by Pierce to adopt the Emergency Clause passed unanimously. (#1368 4-way stop signs for S Schools)
Mr. Smith offered an ordinance for its 1st reading providing for 1-way, Stop sign and no parking around the Nettleton School. Mr. Ward moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the rules be suspended and the Ordinance be placed on second reading. All voted aye and the motion carried.
Mr. Stricklin offered the following Ordinance for its 1st reading: (Annex @ ASU)
