AN ORDINANCE TO DISCONTINUE COMMERCIAL SANITATION SERVICE PROVIDED BY THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, Commercial Sanitation Service as provided by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas has been found unable to financially sustain its continued operations.  The Mayor has decided to discontinue commercial service as sound fiscal policy per his responsibility to the taxpayers of the City of Jonesboro.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

SECTION 1: Commercial Sanitation Service provided to the City of Jonesboro will cease operations by no later than July 1, 2008.  The four (4) employees currently under the commercial sanitation banner will hereby be transferred and absorbed by other departments of the City of Jonesboro.

SECTION 2:  Fixed Assets and Capital Equipment under the Commercial Sanitation Service Operations will be reviewed and needs will be determined after the discontinuation of Commercial Service on July 1, 2008.  After this review assets could be transferred to other departments or sold to outside interested parties per State of Arkansas Purchasing Guidelines.
