The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark., met in regular session at City Hall, Monday night, June 20, 1960, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Parks, Sammons, Smith, Brickell, Snow, Kenward, Field, Griffin, Copeland and Ebbert. Absent: Williams and Heern.

The Mayor appointed Henry Davis to replace Doyle Scarborough on the Electrical Examining Board and Mr. Field made the motion seconded by Mr. Smith that the appointment be accepted and approve. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried.

Mr. Copeland offered the following resolution:

RESOLUTION GRANTING A PERMIT TO LINDELL HITCHCOCK AND THELMA WILSON TO OPERATE A TAXI CAB SERVICE

Mr. Copeland made the motion seconded by Mr. Field that the resolution be adopted. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. The resolution was given the number 1960:08.

The City Attorney read the following ordinance and placed it on the first reading:

AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF SWIMMING POOLS IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Copeland made the motion seconded by Mr. Parks that the ordinance be amended to read 15 inches of water or more in Section I. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. Mr. Copeland made the motion seconded by Mr. Parks that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be place don’t he second reading. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. Mr. Griffin made the motion seconded by Mr. Field that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be placed on the third and final reading. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. Mr. Parks made the motion seconded by Mr. Kenward that the ordinance be adopted. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. Roll was called on the emergency clause and all voted aye. The ordinance was given the number 1016.
