A RESOLUTION TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF A NEW VEHICLE FOR THE TRANSIT DEPARTMENT.

WHEREAS, a paratransit vehicle is needed by the Transit Department as a replacement for one that was a total loss after being struck by another vehicle; and
WHEREAS, ARDOT has not procured bids for transit vehicles and supply disruptions have made securing vehicles of this type difficult; and
WHEREAS, the Transit Department is requesting to purchase a 2022 Ford Transit 350XL using recovered insurance proceeds, and
WHEREAS, the 2022 Ford Transit 350XL is currently in stock and ready for delivery from Master’s Transportation, Inc. of Belton, MO for the sum of $57,220.00; and
WHEREAS, the funding shall be paid from the JETS Insurance Recovery Fund.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
1. The City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-303 states that due to the immediate need to provide paratransit transportation services to the citizens of Jonesboro, an emergency exists, and therefore bidding is hereby waived. The City Council of Jonesboro approves the purchase of a 2022 Ford Transit Van for use by the Jonesboro Economical Transit System (JET).
2. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this purchase.
