AN ORDINANCE TO SEND TO THE VOTERS THE QUESTION OF ANNEXATION OF LAND INTO THE CITY OF JONESBORO AT ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE FIRST TUESDAY OF APRIL, 1911

At the regular municipal election, to be held in the City of Jonesboro, on the first Tuesday in April, 1911, the question shall be submitted to the qualified electors whether or not the following territory, contiguous to the said City of Jonesboro, in Craighead County, should be annexed to the said City, and become a part thereof, to-wit:
A strip of territory, rectangular in form, lying immediately North of and adjoining the present Northern boundary of the City of Jonesboro, and being one-quarter (1/4) mile in width, so that the said corporate limits shall extend one-quarter mile further north than the same are now established.
The question shall be submitted in the following manner, upon the ballots for such election provided: “For annexation of a strip North of present City limits, one-quarter mile wide,” “Against annexation of a strip North of present City limits, one-quarter mile wide,” each elector to vote thereon in the same manner as upon other questions submitted in similar form.
If a majority of the votes cast on that question shall be in favor of annexation, the Mayor and City Clerk, on behalf of the City of Jonesboro, shall present to the County Court, a petition praying for the annexation of said strip of territory, and the City Attorney shall be instructed to take such necessary steps as may be required to carry the vote into effect.
In case the said annexation shall be ordered, such territory shall forthwith become a portion of the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, subject to taxation as such, and the City authorities and police court shall have jurisdiction over the same, as fully as in any other portion of said City.
