RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF JONESBORO AND CRAIGHEAD COUNTY ALLOWING THE CRAIGHEAD COUNTY HOUSING ASSISTANCE TO ADMINISTER THE SECTION 8 EXISTING HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, the Craighead County Housing Authority has participated in the Section 8 Existing Housing Program for a number of years, and a Cooperation Agreement is required to submit to HUD to include residents of the City of Jonesboro to participate and be eligible to receive assistance under the Craighead Housing assistance program; and
WHEREAS, a long waiting list is prevalent in the City and County and it is imperative that residents participate in the City of Jonesboro to insure continuous housing assistance in the County program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
(1) A Cooperation Agreement, attached hereto and made a part hereof, which will allow residents of the City of Jonesboro to participate under the Craighead County Section 8 Existing Program to insure housing assistance to all applicants be approved.
(2) This resolution shall take effect as of the date of approval of the City and County and approval by HUD.
