RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE NOVEMBER 12-18, 1989, AS DEBBIE TURNER WEEK TO RECOGNIZE HER FOR HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS BEING CROWNED MISS AMERICA

WHEREAS, Debbie Turner is a graduate of Jonesboro High School and attended Arkansas State University, and a student of the University of Missouri  Veterinary Medicine, and

 

WHEREAS, Miss Turner was born in Hawaii, grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and

 

WHEREAS, Miss Turner competed for Miss Arkansas three times in 1985, 1987, and 1988, twice finishing as first runner-up, and

 

WHEREAS, after moving to Missouri, she won the title of Miss Columbia and was named Miss Missouri in June of 1989, and

 

WHEREAS, Debbie Turner was crowned as the new MISS AMERICA on September 16, 1989 and we wish to recognized her accomplishments by proclaiming November 12-18, 1989 as “DEBBIE TURNER WEEK” in Jonesboro, Arkansas and celebrate Debbie Turner’s Homecoming with many activities throughout the week.

 

PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th of November, 1989.
