AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF DIGITAL CAMERA EQUIPMENT FOR POLICE UNITS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:

 

SECTION 1.  That the Police Department of the City of Jonesboro needs to purchase the following:  9) Mobile vision digital camera systems (to include collision sensors, backseat camera and 2 wireless access points).

 

SECTION 2.  That said camera systems can be purchased from TCSware (an only source) for the sum of $52,350.00, sales tax and shipping included.

 

SECTION 3.  That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C. A. 14-58-303 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 2 above.

 

SECTION 4.  That funding for these cameras will be obtained from the Police Department fixed assets account as approved in the 2010 budget.

 

SECTION 5.  It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire this equipment an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect form and after its passage and approval.
