AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION ONE OF ORDINANCE NO.892 AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO.925, SAME BEING AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH CERTAIN STANDARD REQUIREMENTS IN REGARD TO THE EMPLOYMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO

BE IT ORDAINED and Enacted by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas: Amended #953.
 
SECTION 1: That from and after the passage and adoption of its ordinance, Section 1 (a) of Ordinance 892 as amended by Ordinance No.925 shall be amended to read as follows:
 
(A)  Any such applicant shall have reached his twenty-third (23) birthday and in the event such application does not have at least 5 years practical experience as a peace officer, shall not be over 35 years of age; but in the event such application proves at least five years satisfactory practical experience as a peace officer such applicant shall not have reach his 45th birthday. A duly certified photo static copy of a birth certificate of such applicant shall be filed with the chief of the department and by said chief filed with the office of City Clerk and shall remain on file in the office of the City Clerk.
 
SECTION 2: This ordinance being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
