BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

WHEREAS a petition was duly filed with the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas on the 2nd day of August, 1990, to vacate a 12.5 foot dead end alley north of Monroe Avenue and lying east and west between Church street and East Street and more particularly described as follows:

A parcel of land adjacent to Lots 1, 2, 3. 4, and 5, of Gladys Rankin’s subdivision of Lots 4, 5, and 9 of Cobb Survey of the Northwest 1/4 Southeast 1/4 of Section 18, Township North, Range 4 East, and Lot 8 of Cobb survey of the Southwest 1/4 Southeast 1/4 of Section 18, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, said parcel being and undedicated alley or private drive, being more particularly described as follows:

Begin at the Southeast corner of aforesaid Lot 3 of aforesaid Gladys Rankin’s Subdivision; thence in a Northerly direction along the East line of aforesaid lots 3, 2, and 1, to the Northeast corner of aforesaid Lot 1; thence in a Easterly direction to the Northwest corner of aforesaid Lot 4; South to the Southwest Corner of Lot 5; thence in a Westerly direction along the North line of Monroe Avenue to the point of beginning, said parcel being a strip of land 12.5' wide East and West by approximately 194.1' long measured North and South and containing 2426 square feet, more or less, said parcels recording in Deed Record Book 48, Page 279 in the Circuit Clerk’s office in the Western Direct of Craighead County, Jonesboro, Arkansas filed September 22, 1949.

WHEREAS after due notice as required by law, the Council has at the time and place mentioned in the notice heard all persons desiring to be heard on the question and has ascertained that the alley or the portion thereof herein before described, as heretofore been dedicated to the public use as an alley herein described, has not been actually used by the public...
