CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - February 12, 2007

 

The Jonesboro City Council met Monday, February 12, 2007, at 4:15 p.m. for a special called meeting. Members present were: City Clerk Donna Jackson and seven council members. Those members were: Frierson, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street, Dover. Councilwoman Furr and Councilmen Moore, Johnson and McCall were unable to attend. President Pro Tempore Harold Perrin presided over the meeting in the absence of Mayor Formon who was unable to attend.

 

Councilman Dover motioned, seconded by Councilman Frierson, to set a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on February 20, 2007, to accept land. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Frierson, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street and Dover.

 

Councilman Street motioned, seconded by Councilwoman Williams, for adoption of a resolution to accept donated land from the Jonesboro Economic Development Corporation for land located in the Industrial Park for economic development. Councilman Frierson stated City Water and Light prepared a deed to the Jonesboro Economic Development Corporation. He added JEDC was to transfer the land to the City of Jonesboro. He explained the bond issue is in the name of the City, so the City must own the land. Mr. Tony Thomas stated they were not aware of the bond issue until the Thursday when they received the resolution via e-mail or else it would have went through a while ago. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Frierson, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street and Dover. The resolution was assigned number 2007:29.

 

With no further business, Councilman Dover moved, seconded by Councilman Street, to adjourn the meeting. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Frierson, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street and Dover.
