CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - March 18, 2002
The Jonesboro City Council met Monday, March 18, 2002, at 6:30 p.m. A full quorum was in attendance. Present were: Mayor Hubert Brodell, City Attorney, Phillip Crego, City Clerk, Donna K. Jackson, and twelve council members. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, Rorex, Crockett, McCall, Rega, Province, Moore, Young, Perrin, Copeland, and Roddy.
Councilman Perrin moved, seconded by Councilman Roddy to approve the minutes of March 4, 2002, as previously delivered. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, Rorex, Crockett, McCall, Rega, Province, Moore, Young, Perrin Copeland and Roddy.
Councilman Perrin moved, seconded by Councilman Crockett to reinstate a request for an appeal hearing for Roy and Nell Bearden regarding the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission’s recommendation to deny rezoning from Residential (R-1) to Commercial (C-3). The appeal hearing was set for April 1, 2002, for 6:10 p.m. at Council Chambers, located at 900 W. Monroe. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, Rorex, Crockett, McCall, Rega, Province, Moore, Young, Perrin Copeland and Roddy.
Councilman Tate moved, seconded by Councilman Crockett for the adoption of a resolution endorsing Thomas and Betts Corporation, located at 5601 East Highland Drive to participate in the Arkansas Enterprise Zone Program. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Kelton, Tate, Rorex, Crockett, McCall, Rega, Province, Moore, Young, Perrin Copeland and Roddy. The resolution was assigned resolution number 2002:15.
Councilman Kelton moved, seconded by Councilman Province to appoint Dr. Ken Beadles to fill the unexpired term of Mr. Tommy Brown to the Board of Directors, Jonesboro Urban Renewal and Housing Authority, with an expiration date of October, 2006. A voice vot...
