AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF PATRICK STREET AND EAST WASHINGTON AVENUE; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: The City Council hereby finds and declares that the condition of traffic is such as to endanger the traveling public at the intersection of the following streets and that traffic control devices are hereby established and placed at the following intersection: East Washington Avenue at its intersection with Patrick Street.
Section 2: Such device shall be a stop sign to be placed on the North and South of Washington Avenue on Patrick Street at its intersection with East Washington Avenue. That caution signs shall be placed East and West of Patrick Street on Washington Avenue controlling traffic traveling East and West on Washington.
Section 3: The Chief of Police or some person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate appropriate signs reading “Stop” at appropriate places on Patrick Avenue stopping the traffic on Patrick Avenue going North and South at its intersection with Washington Avenue. That caution signs shall be placed East and West of Patrick Street on Washington Avenue controlling traffic traveling East and West on Washington Avenue.
Section 4: That all Ordinances and laws and parts of Ordinances and laws in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5: Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than $15.00.
Section 6: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the increasing traffic congestion at the intersection of East Washington Avenue and Patrick Street has caused a traffic problem which endangers the lives and property of the citizens of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace and safe...
