AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE USE OF BICYCLES WITHIN THE CITY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: Every person, riding a bicycle upon a roadway within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, shall be subject to the provisions of State Laws applicable to drivers of vehicles, except those provisions which by their nature can have no application.

 

Section 2: Every person, riding a bicycle within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, shall be subject to the speed limits and other traffic control devices as any other vehicle.

 

Section 3: All ordinances and/or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed and Ordinances No. 893 and 912-A as they pertain to bicycles are hereby repealed.

 

Section 4: Should any portion of this ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid and so declared by a court of competent jurisdiction, then the remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected by such partial invalidity.

 

Section 5: It is found and declared by the City Council that this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
