AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF USED MOTOROLA RADIOS FOR THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
SECTION 1: That the Police and Fire Departments of the City of Jonesboro need to purchase the following:
16) Used Motorola Mobile Radios
10) Used Motorola portable radios
SECTION 2: That said equipment can be purchased from Motorola, Inc. for the sum of $30, 266.99 which will be paid from the Police and Fire Department budget as approved by the Council.
SECTION 3: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 2 above.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to immediate need to acquire this equipment an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
