BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: Ordinance No.952 is hereby amended as follows:

(a) Section 1, 2, 5, 7, 9 and 13 of Article 2 are deleted;

(b) Section 10 or Article 2 shall read as follows:
DOGS IMPOUNDED - HOW REDEEMED. The owner of any dogs impounded hereunder may redeem the same by paying all of the costs, charges and penalties assessed, if any, that have accrued up to the time of making the redemption, including the cost of having the dog vaccinated, and when all said charges have been paid to the pound keeper it shall be his duty, and he shall release the dog from said pound and deliver him to the owner thereof.

(c) Section 11 of Article 2 shall read as follows:
PUBLIC NOTICE: Immediately after impounding any dog hereunder, it shall be the duty of the pound keeper to enter upon the records of the pound in a book, to be kept by him for such purpose, the date of impounding, a description of the dog impounded, and a record as to whether or not such dog has been vaccinated and tagged as required by the ordinances of said city. Said pound book shall be open to the public for the inspection of any interested party.

(d) Section 14 of Article 2 shall read as follows:
DOG BITES: Whenever any dog bites a person, such person and/or the owner of said dog shall immediately notify the Chief or Police or the animal control officer who shall have it impounded at a veterinary hospital approved by the City at the expense of the owner for a period of time as specified by the Arkansas State Health Department of the physician who treats the bite victim, which ever period is longer, the dog shall be examined immediately after it has bitten anyone and again at the end of the observation period.
