BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:

SECTION 1. Section 1 of Ordinance No. 761 passed January 5, 1948, is hereby amended to read as follows:

“Section 1. Traffic control devices or stop lights are hereby established and placed at the intersections of the following streets or avenues:

Cate and Burke Avenue and South Main Street;
Huntington Avenue and South Main Street;
East and West Washington Avenue and South Main Street;
East and West Cherry Avenue and South Main Street;
Flint Street and West Nettleton Avenue;
East and West Matthews Avenue and South Main Street;
Union Street and West Huntington Avenue;
North Bridge Street and East Johnson Avenue;
East and West Johnson Avenue and North Main Street;
East and West Nettleton Avenue and South Main Street.

SECTION 2. It being found that traffic is congested at the above set out intersections and that said intersection are dangerous and traffic control devices, or traffic lights, are needed to relieve said congestion and reduce the danger to motor vehicle drivers and occupants and pedestrians, and certain of said traffic lights have already been placed without the enactment of an ordinance providing for said traffic lights, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and the immediate passage and enforcement of this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, adoption and publication as required by law.
