AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAMES OF CERTAIN STREETS IN WARD SIX; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro. Arkansas:
Section 1: From and after passage and adoption of this ordinance, the names of certain streets in Ward Six shall be changed as follows:
Thorn Street from Highway No.18 and Highway No.63 Intersection East to Main Street shall hereafter be known as Nettleton Avenue:
East Main Street from the Nettleton Baptist Church East to the city limits shall hereafter be known as Nettleton Avenue:
West Main Street from Nettleton Baptist Church West to its end shall hereafter be known as Griffin Street.
Section 2: The Chief of Police or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described streets, appropriate signs showing the new names of the streets.
Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council that due to the confusion caused by the names of the above described streets that an emergency hereby exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and adoption.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 18th day of May, 1970.
