AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 755

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 755 be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
“SECTION 2. That hereafter it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to drive or operate any vehicles in said alleys and parts of alleys so designate as one-way alleys east of Main Street except when such vehicle is driven toward the north and from the south; and hereafter it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to drive or operate any vehicle in said alleys and part of alley so designated as one-way always west of Main Street except when such vehicle is driven toward the south and from the north.”
SECTION 2. Emergency. It is found that under present ordinance it is impossible for certain firms and corporations transacting business along the alleys mentioned to load and unload necessary vehicles without great and unnecessary inconvenience and expense, resulting in confusion and congestion which should be avoided; and this ordinance being necessary for the protection of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared and it shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, adoption and publication.
