AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND RATIFYING PETITIONS FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE CITIES OF JONESBORO AND NETTLETON, ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, a petition containing the signatures of more than 50 of the inhabitants and qualified electors of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and also a petition containing more than 50 signatures of the inhabitants and qualified electors of the City of Nettleton, Arkansas, requesting the consolidation of said cities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, does hereby find that said petitions in all things conform to the law thereunto in such cases provided, that it would be to the best interests of said cities that a consolidation of same be effected, and that the prayer of said petitions should be approved and ratified; now, therefore:
BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas;
That the petitions of the inhabitants and qualified electors of the cities of Jonesboro and Nettleton, Arkansas requesting consolidation of said towns, be, and the same is hereby approved and ratified, and that the cities aforesaid be consolidated as by law provided in such cases.
That said petitions and a certified copy of this ordinance is filed with the County Clerk of Craighead County, Arkansas, as by law provided, and that the County Court of Craighead County call a special election in both of said municipalities on the question of said consolidation.
