A RESOLUTION TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE ARKANSAS FORESTRY COMMISSION

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro maintains public trees within the City of Jonesboro;
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro and the Arkansas Forestry Commission desire to enter into a grant agreement for forestry projects awarded to the City of Jonesboro for the 2006-2007 grant cycle.
WHEREAS, the amount awarded was $7,000 for the 50/50 match.
WHEREAS, the forestry projects include; the purchase forestry equipment for the parks department, conference travel for city employees and forestry council members, guest speaker fees for a local forestry conference at ASU, trees, and brochures;
WHEREAS, the grant is a 50/50 matching grant
WHEREAS, the $14,000 for the grant is budgeted in the 2006 budget under line item 07-100-0132-00 “Tree Forestry Grant ”;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS
SECTION 1: That the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas shall enter into a grant agreement with the Arkansas Forestry Commission, said agreement is attached hereto as “Exhibit A.”
SECTION 2: The Mayor, Doug Formon and City Clerk, Donna Jackson are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate the agreement.
