Minutes for the City Council meeting on April 11, 1969

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in recess session Friday afternoon, April 11, 1969, at 5:30 p.m. There were present: City Attorney and the following Councilmen: Pierce, Turner, Bowers, Williams, Darling, Stricklin, Pardew, Knight, Minx, Young, Johnson and Dr. Bowers. Absent: Mayor and City Clerk. Walter Darling acted as Mayor in the absence of the Mayor.
The following ordinance was on its first reading:
AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CERTAIN LANDS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT DATED MARCH 11, 1969; ASSIGNING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD 6; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the rule be suspended and the ordinance be placed on the second reading. All voted aye and motion carried. Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the rule be further suspended and the ordinance be placed on the third and final reading. All voted aye and motion carried. Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Pierce seconding the motion that the ordinance be adopted. All voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Knight made the motion, seconded by Mr. Pierce that the Emergency Clause be adopted. All voted aye and the motion carried. The ordinance was given the number 1223.
There being no further business, Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
