ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A DEPOSIT AGREEMENT WITH ARKANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY FOR INCLUSION IN THE ARCHIVES AND SPECIAL COLLECTIONS OF THE DEAN B. ELLIS LIBRARY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to preserve the historical records of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas for future generations; and
WHEREAS, the Dean B. Ellis Library of Arkansas State University is equipped to preserve, and administer the documents for historical, educational, and scholarly research;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
SECTION 1: The City Clerk of Jonesboro, Arkansas is hereby authorized to provide such documentation to the Archives and Special Collections Division of the Dean B. Ellis Library of Arkansas State University as deemed necessary for the preservation of historical city records.
SECTION 2: It is understood that title to and such literary rights of any and all documentation provided to the Archives and Special Collections Division of the Dean B. Ellis Library of Arkansas State University shall be retained by the City of Jonesboro and the City Clerk's Office.
SECTION 3: The Jonesboro City Council hereby approves, and authorizes the Deposit Agreement between the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas and the Dean B. Ellis Library of Arkansas State University.
SECTION 4: Due to the deterioration of existing city records and a need to preserve such records an emergency is declared to exist and this Ordinance, being necessary shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
