AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING CERTAIN TIME LIMITS ON CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: The City Council finds and declares that certain parking spaces within the City of Jonesboro should be designated by time limits and should be designated as follows:

a. Main Street from Matthews north to Burke & Cate Street with the exception of 30 minute parking in front of Court House.
b. Church Street from Washington north to Cate Street.
c. Union Street south from Burke to Jefferson with exception of 30 minute parking by Court House.
d. Washington west from Church Street to alley midway of 200 block of west Washington with exception of 30 minute parking by Court House.
e. Huntington west from Church Street to Union Street.
f. Entire lot located in 300 block of Church Street.
g. Entire lot located at Main and Monroe Street.
h. Front row of lot located at Church & Jefferson.

All of the above listed spaces were at one time covered with parking meters.

Section 2: The drivers of all vehicles shall obey all traffic control signs per instruction on the face thereof.

Section 3: The Chief of Police or some person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the described locations, at the proper places appropriate signs designating parking time limits and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tear down, remove or mutilate said signs.

Section 4: Every person convicted to a violation of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than $100.00.

Section 5: All ordinances and/or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 6: It is found and declared by the City Council that due to increasing traffic congestion and use of the above described parking spaces and lack of adequate control devices, that there is a great possibility that failure to have these control device...
