A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO AUTHORIZE THE GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (USDOT), FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION (FTA), FY2021 49 U.S.C. SECTION 5339 FORMULA GRANT, FOR THE JONESBORO ECONOMICAL TRANSIT SYSTEM (JET)

WHEREAS, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) is the FTA designated recipient of the 49 U.S.C Section 5339 formula grant and the City of Jonesboro AR a direct recipient of this grant through ARDOT; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro AR was allocated $123,603 in Section 5339 formula funding for JET in Fiscal Year 2021; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5339 funds are available during its allocated fiscal year plus three additional years and must be applied for and obligated or the funds will be returned; and,
WHEREAS, JET requests the $123,603 in federal funding, with a 20% local match, to upgrade its real-time route management and communications software.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The Jonesboro City Council pledges its full support for the submission of an application for the FY2021 Section 5339 formula grant to upgrade JET’s real-time route management and communications software.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the grant application.
SECTION 3: The Grants and Community Development Department is hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro AR to submit all necessary documents for this federal-aid program.
SECTION 4: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts regarding any future award of the FY2021 Section 5339 formula grant.
