AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 15-54 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY PROVIDING SPECIAL SPEED ZONES IN CERTAIN RESIDENTIAL SECTIONS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro is hereby amended by adding sub-sections to be numbered “10”, “11” and “12” to Section 15-54 (b) which said subsections shall read as follows:

 

“Section 15-54 (b) “10”: Thirty-Five miles per hour on the East Matthews Avenue for traffic traveling east from Roland Street to Nettleton Avenue. The Speed shall be reduced to twenty-five miles per hour on said Avenue at the point of the two curves in said avenue between Nettleton Avenue and Caraway Road.

“11”: Thirty-five miles per hour on East Washington Avenue from its intersection with East Matthews Avenue West to a point of 300 feet East of Houston Street. Twenty-Five miles per hour on East Washington Avenue form 300 feet East of Houston Street East to Patrick Street. Twenty miles per hour from Patrick Street East to Bridge Street.

“12”: Twenty Miles per hour on Tony Drive from Nettleton Avenue North to Stallings Lane.”

 

Section 2: It is found and declared by the City Council that the existing general residential speed limits of the above mentioned streets has been inappropriate and causes unnecessary danger to the general public and, therefore, an emergency is declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage.
