A RESOLUTION TO CONTRACT WITH BRACKETT AND KRENNERICH ARCHITECTS, P.A TO CONDUCT AN AQUATICS FEASIBILITY STUDY

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro owns and maintains the Earl Bell Pool located at 1212 S. Church Street, and
WHEREAS, the Earl Bell Pool was renovated in 1979 and is at the end of its anticipated life cycle; and
WHEREAS, if the Earl Bell Pool and other aging aquatic facilities cease operations in the near future there would be no facilities for public recreational and competitive swimmers;
WHEREAS, due to the current aquatic circumstances the Jonesboro Parks and Recreation Department has determined it is appropriate to begin studying the need for a future aquatic facility in Jonesboro; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department reviewed the list of qualifications and interviewed three architectural firms qualified to conduct such a study; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department selected Brackett and Krennerich Architects, P.A. and is seeking to enter into a contract for $45,000.00 to conduct an aquatics feasibility study; and
WHEREAS, funds for the study shall come from the Mayor’s Professional Services Fund (01-131-0217-00);
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
Section 1: That the City of Jonesboro shall contract with Brackett-Krennerich Associates for $45,000 to conduct an aquatics feasibility study; and
Section 2: That the aquatics feasibility study shall include a needs analysis, three conceptual plan, a construction cost analysis for each conceptual plan, an operations cost analysis for each plan and drawings for each plan as listed in Article 9 of the contract.
Section 3: The Mayor, Doug Formon and City Clerk, Donna Jackson are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
