AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 5-11 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS; INCREASING BUILDING PERMIT FEES, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: Section 5-11, subsection (b) shall be amended as follows:
For a permit for the construction or alteration of a building or structure, the fee shall be at the rate of $6.00 per thousand of the estimated cost up to 1,000, plus $4.00 per thousand dollars of the estimated cost up to $20.000, plus $3.10 per thousand dollars of the estimated cost in excess of $20,000 up to $100,000 plus $2.20 per thousand dollars of the estimated cost in excess of $100,000. up to $500,000, plus $1.55 per thousand dollars of the estimated cost in excess of $500.000 up to $1,000,000 plus $1.25 per thousand dollars of the estimated cost in excess of $1,000,000 provided no fees shall be required when the estimated cost not exceed $100.00.
Section 2: All ordinances and/or parts of ordinances in conflict therewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that due to increasing operation expenses incurred in issuing building permits, an increase is necessary; therefore, this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after January 1, 1980.
