A RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR A REIMBURSMENT POLICY AND RATE OF PUBLICATION FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Code of Ordinances, Section 2.20.11 (A) provides that the Finance Committee shall be responsible for establishing a rate to cover costs for publications as required by A.C.A 14-55-206; And
WHEREAS, the Administration has reviewed and determined the City of Jonesboro’s loss of revenue due to under estimated publication costs and recommended the following rate to the Finance Committee for the purpose of maintaining Jonesboro’s financial continuity; And
WHEREAS, the Finance Committee has reviewed and supports the following publication rate and policy for ordinances, resolutions, and public notices to the Jonesboro City Council;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
Section 1: The publication cost shall be paid to and calculated by the Collections department for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas at the same rate being charged by the local newspaper in which the publication is being run. It shall be the responsibility of the City Collector to determine the current rate, calculate that rate based on the cost per word, and collect the publication fee.
Section 2: Failure to pay the publication fee shall result in the item not being placed on the City Council agenda.
